Two things really hit me in the field. The first was the beauty of the Badlands. 
Few people take note of the desolate beauty the Badlands provide.
It is so very empty out there, it is easy to look around and believe that you are the only human being on the planet.
 I loved it,and I plan to return.

The second thing that hit me was the unencumbered view of the stars in the clear, crisp night sky. 
I don't have words to describe it.
