This majestic creature is a
part of ancient legends and tales.
Their massive size and proud demeanor
command respect from all those fortunate enough to see them.
The elephant has
long had a pivotal place in the lives of the peoples of Central and South-East
Asia.
And while the need for these animals for physical labor decreases with
the rise in modernization,
their legendary status still maintains their
importance in the peoples' lives.
It is because of this that the people work to
preserve the elephant. They recognize these creatures as more than beasts of
burden,
but also as a pivotal part of their pasts and an important aspect of
their futures.
