As you walk
along a sandy beach, hike through a leafy forest, climb a rocky bluff,
or experience nature from your own backyard, you begin to realize earth’s
grandeur.
The daily concerns of human life vanish before the awesome beauty of
the environment.
While in California, I began to slip into the vast realm of
natural wonder. I awoke to gray whales
migrating through the sparkling Pacific
Ocean. My mornings were used to observe sea otters playing in kelp forests.
Elephant seal pups napping on beaches amused my afternoons. Sunsets of pale
oranges, bright yellows,
and hazy purples marked my day’s end. Night hikes
showcased the Milky Way and its billions of stars.
My mind left the world I
previously knew, and I began to understand how small I really am.
Behold
nature, and become humble from its astounding beauty and scale.
