Birding in Western New York

The choice of where you would like to bird around Western New York will depend on what you want to see. If you enjoy looking at waterfowl and shore birds the Niagara River is a good place to travel to especially in the winter. However, if you would much rather take a look up at the canopy for some warblers perhaps you should try to head off to the interior forests in the spring and fall to our wonderful parks like Allegany and Sprague Brook. Also, as any birder will tell you it’s nice to be able to have the best of both worlds. So if you want a wide range of different bird types you might want to head over Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge.
