Being surrounded by an old growth forest or the vast ocean waters supporting a rich biodiversity can serve as an important reminder of just how interconnected we all are with each other and with all life on our planet. Whether it is in our own backyards, in the middle of a busy city, or on a trip to a new destination, immersing ourselves in the world around us to be fully present and cognizant of our natural surroundings and the other beings that each play a role in any given ecosystem can allow for a greater appreciation and understanding of our own contributions. As we each have the power and choice to make positive or negative contributions, it is crucial that we think carefully and critically about the role we wish play regarding our relationships and interactions with other animals and the environment.
