It is my belief that nature is everlasting. Any notion that nature needs our assistance is self aggrandizement that stems from a misconception of human importance on the scale of time. If that seem to carry a sentiment of nihilistic pessimism, it is only a result of underestimating the grandeur of nature. Thinking of our own demise is bleak and depressing, yet the eternal property of nature is a fact firmly pushed to the back of our minds.

That being said, the mission of conservation should not be viewed as saving the natural world, but instead as a component of survival; an attempt at preserving nature so that life as we know it can persist.
