Climate Change

  • Greenhouse gases are normal components of the air that we breathe.  They are necessary for a healthy atmosphere.
  • However, the burning of fossil fuels and the cutting down trees has caused a build up of too much of these gases in the atmosphere

"Hello! My name is Kim. I'm a member of the Canisius Ambassadors for Conservation.

As you will learn in this book, climate change is happening all over the world. In this book, you will read about many of these changes in letters from children all over the world.

Think of it this way.

You are the earth on a nice day where you only need a light jacket. Your jacket is like the green house gases; it is just enough to keep you warm and comfortable. However, we are building up greenhouse gases so you no longer have a light jacket. Instead, you are wearing a big puffy winter coat! Now you are over heating! Greenhouse gases are the jacket of the earth.

Use the links to your left to learn more about climate change."
