Coral Bleaching
Facts:
-
Coral Bleaching occurs when coral in the reef is
stressed.
-
Things that stress coral include increased
water temperature, over fishing, increased
sunlight, wind, disease, starvation, and
contact with air.
-
Higher temperatures are the most common
cause of bleaching; if the temperature is
1-2°C higher than average, coral may bleach.
