Dear Riya,
Here in Brazil,
another big section of trees in our rainforest
is being cut down again. I really wish these men
would stop.
It makes me so sad to see the trees cut
down because the area looks so bare and
depressing.
I am really scared for all the animals
and plants living there.
Everyone keeps talking about how this
deforestation is linked to global warming. In my
area of Brazil, it rains a lot and the Amazon
floods every summer.
But some of the villagers say that
because so many trees are being cut down, the
soil and vegetation that is left will not be
able to trap the water.
Apparently, It will cause disruption in
the water cycle and maybe drought!
I can’t even
imagine!
