Algae & Coral

Relationship: Mutualism

"A type of algae called zooxanthellae has a symbiotic relationship with coral. Coral provides waste products and carbon dioxide for the algae. The algae in turn provides the coral with oxygen and  sugar. This relationship is so beneficial that the coral living with algae grow faster and are the only type of coral that can make a hard calcium skeleton. "
