Brilliantly Adapted

"That is a Greater Bilby! They have big ears! Not only do those huge ears give them excellent hearing, they help keep the bilby cool in hot weather!"

Common Ringtail Possum

Like most other marsupials, the Common Ringtail Possum is nocturnal. This means that it is active during the night. These animals have evolved large eyes so that they can see in the dark.  They have also developed prehensile tails which they use to grab onto branches for balance.

Yapok

The Yapok is the only marsupial that lives in water. It has webbed feet to help it swim, and a tail that it uses as a propeller.  It even has waterproof fur! Both males and females have pouches that close when they dive underwater.
